So, I picked up that frame today and started putting things together.
This is just a really rough mock-up, just to get an idea.
But I like the line it has (except for the exhaust, that definitely has to change!)
Anyway, hope to be able to make some drawings for the oiltank and start fabricating a batterybox tomorrow.
See you in a few..
Oh yes, Happy New Year! ;-)

PS: pictures were taken by my good friend Jakke and edited by me!

did some work on the bike again

I cleaned up the outside of the gas tank I'll be using.
Tomorrow morning I'll go pick up the frame again and start testfitting the engine, the tank, and start making templates for the oil tank.
I'll keep you posted!!

did some work on the bike again

Last week I was able to strip the bike.
And this morning I took out the engine. It's the first time I took out a sportster engine and damn it weighs a lot!
The plan is to get the hardtail frame back this week (at the moment it's standing at a friends place) and put the engine in. Then I can start on the oiltank.
Here some pic's:

... it's been a while ...

... since my last post so.. I'll be starting again on the sportster project this week (had to put it on hold for a little while).

The first thing I'll be doing is fixing the tank! I've got the leather I wanted and needed so I can get started ( tank, leather,.. ?? you'll get some pictures in a little while)
Then I'l bee stripping my donorbike and putting the engine in the hardtail frame so I can start working around it.
Next will be the oiltank.. still not really sure what I'm gonna do there, possibly a home-made horseshoe.

Anyway, I'll keep you updated!

In the meanwhile, here's a picture of a friends bike.

Martin's workshed

Åland, a small Finnish island in front of Sweden.
Martin, a friend of mine, runs a nice old Bed & Breakfast. He's real Indian-kind of guy and by that I mean the motorcycles! He rides a neat Indian Chief, his wife has an old Scout and at the moment he's building her a cool Indian trike. I was lucky enough to go visit him, together with some friends. When we stepped in he's shed/workshop our mouths fell open.. He's got this amazingly old shed, filled with old stuff, machinery, can's, ... there's even an old 'machinery room' with old leather belts running across the sealing from one side of the roam to the other. One engine that does it spin, and all the different machines just have to be 'put in gear' to make them run.
That place was like heaven! Hope to go visit him again soon and take some more pictures!

DieCo's Cycle

This is a story about a young man and his bike..
The man being me and the bike a '00 Sportster Custom. I bought it in 2005 and it was completely stock!
After a while it started itching to make something else out of it so..
2006:
 2007:
2010 (1st edition):
2010 (2nd edition, after my crash):

And personally I think it's getting better every time, BUT..!!
Next: I got this sweet Santee hardtailframe with a (+/-) 40° rake and last year I bought a springerfork from a friend in Sweden (It's about 9" overstock). well, put these 2 together and you'll get.... Magic:
This will be my 'winter project' so come and see for updates once in a while. My goal is to amaze myself and maybe some other people (Oh yeah, I've got some nice ideas!).
Te bike should be finished by may 2011!

'going home to Finland'

I shot this crazy Finnish guy when he was leaving the day after a great party at Åland (Finland).
Thanks to Kobba Hoppers MC for that awesome party!
